Back up Software

Back up Software (or Backup Software)

Back up Software is a computer program used to perform a complete back up of a file, data, database, system or server. The back up software enables you to make an exact duplicate of everything contained on the original source. This software must also be used to perform a recovery of the data or system in the event of a disaster.

Choosing the right back up software is very important. Different software uses different methods to back up data. For example, some software will back up only to tape, while others will back up to disk. Some software uses a file-by-file method to back up.  Other software, such as StorageCraft ShadowProtect, back up an entire volume or drive using drive image technology.

Some things to consider when choosing back up software are the length of time it will take to back up your systems and data, the reliability of the hardware on which your back up will be stored and the experience of the developers of the software.
