File Backup
File Backup is a backup of files or
folders on a computer hard drive. This
backup is a digital copy of the original
information from a server or a PC. This file
can be used in the event of a catastrophic
failure – such as a computer crash or
natural disaster.
File backup should not be confused with disk
or drive imaging, however. File backup
differs in that it does not necessarily copy
all of the information contained on a disk
or drive. You may have the files saved, but
you probably won’t have the applications and
settings, which you will need in the event
of a disaster.
File backups work well as a first line of
defense in case you accidentally delete a
necessary file or in the event of data
corruption from a virus or worm. In
addition, most file-based software backup
works behind the scenes – you set them and
forget them.
But in order to secure your entire computer
environment, you should have a more complete
backup that will make a digital copy of your
data, applications, operating system and
settings.
StorageCraft ShadowProtect is
disaster recovery software that allows you
to safely image your computer disks –
whether on a server or a PC. ShadowProtect
provides Real-Time Recovery of your
systems and data in the event of a
catastrophic failure.
